Game on
I've been silent about my next move for a while, but I'm happy to announce that I've gotten a US work visa. I'll be picking up my family in late september and moving to the Bay Area to join Sony Computer Entertainment of America on the Playstation team. I can't talk about what I'll be doing, but I'm very excited :)
So long and thanks for all the fish
It's with a very heavy heart that I need to announce I won't be joining Xamarin. Working on Mono for the past 7 years has been one of the most intensly rewarding experiences of my life, and I'm extremely sad that I will not be moving forward with them. All of the hackers there are some of the brightest and best that I've ever had the luxury of working with. I wish all the guys at Xamarin the best of luck with their future, and I am confident they'll bring Mono to the next level.
I'd like to thank Miguel for all of the amazing fun times we've had over the years, and providing me a home to hack on Mono, its been a pretty wild ride.
What's next for me? I'm not entirely sure yet. I'm going to spend some time with my family, and probably go fishing. As always, I am reachable by email and twitter if anyone is looking to contact me. Happy hacking!
MonoTouch, Interface Builder and Xcode4 -- Oh my!
The MonoTouch support for Xcode4's new integrated Interface Builder is coming soon, however a lot of people seem confused as to what they can do in the mean time. Thankfully there is a trivial solution for people who wish to install Xcode4 and still have a working Interface Builder integraion.
- 1. Install Xcode4 to /Developer
- 2. Install Xcode3 to /Xcode3
- 3. Find any .xib on your HDD in Finder and Right Click->Get Info it.
- 4. In the "Open With" section, change the drop down to "Interface Builder" and click "Change All..."
- 5. Profit
Charity
Over the last few months I have been doing some technical review for a few books. Normally publishers pay for this work, but I have decided to direct my proceeds to charity. That being said, it has to be a registered charity in the United States, and as a Canadian I do not get a lot of exposure to smaller, efficient US charities.
I've been doing some thinking, and I'd like to direct the funds to a charity that focuses on technology, perhaps technology education. Ideally applying this focus on developing nations.
